Intermediate Course II B2
This course is designed for students who have already reached a B1 level and wish to achieve the B2 level.
This course, intended for students who have acquired level B1, aims to develop listening, reading, speaking and writing skills, to acquire linguistic knowledge (grammar and lexicon) as well as to perfect pronunciation in order to reach level B2.
This course favors a communicative task-based approach that allows students to master the skills needed to follow a complex argument and to develop a point of view by expressing themselves clearly and in detail on personal, professional, public or educational subjects.
Communicative skills are approached through authentic documents of news (radio, television, web) or artistic works (songs, shows, cinema, literature, graphic works).
Students are invited to work in groups and to perform collaborative or individual oral and written tasks.
Practice exercises to review grammatical and lexical content will be offered in each class.
All topics are worked on from an intercultural and international perspective.
The assessments are based on a continuous monitoring and will be defined by the teachers at the beginning of the semester. By taking the planned assessments and participating in at least 80% of the courses, the student will be able to obtain, in case of success, an attestation from the Maison des langues mentioning the amount of work in credits and the level reached according to the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). In case of failure, only an attestation of attendance will be issued, provided that the 80% attendance rate has been reached.
The workload for a 2h/week semester course corresponds to 3 ECTS credits.
The Maison des Langues French support classes are strictly reserved to the university community members (UNIGE, IHEID, HES-SO Geneva, HUG): regular students, exchange students, administrative and technical staff, teaching staff, Alumni, participants of Continuing Education.
